"Big" taken In September. She will be missed.

It is with sadness that I write this, I lost my TB mare recently, she was a wonderful, sweet mare. She was in foal for a May 2009 foal. It is the first time I have had a horse cast in her stall, it seems so unreal. Here are a few images of "Big".

Fall here in New York State is my favorite time of year, this Gypsy Vanner is enjoying the late afternoon sunshine, cool air, and bug free air.

Fall here in NY, the horses love the cool air and no bugs!

Some images of some of the wonderful colors here in NY state as the leaves are at their peak. I took a walk in the woods here behind our farm, the forest almost seems lit up in the dark areas by the bright yellow leaves. The forest floor is a carpet of colors with a wonderful, woody scent you only get this time of year. Whats not to like here in NY in the autumn?
The foliage here in upstate NY is beautiful!

I attended the 3rd annual Limestone Creek Hunt Masters Challenge Hunter Trials in Cazanovia, NY on September 20th. It was a gorgeous day for the event. This is a shot of the Hunt Teams O/F class. This team was outstanding, and a joy to watch.

A shot from a Pairs Flat class.

Canter between fences at LCH Hunter Trials.

September 14 was opening day for Limestone Creek Hunt, they began the day with a parade in Cazanovia, NY. The temp rose to close to 90 degrees! not ideal for hunting!

Hounds waiting for the hunt to begin.

Here "Max" gets cooled off with the hose after the hunt. With the temp getting close to 90 degrees, I am sure it felt good!

Certainly not Equine, but interesting! On Aug 16, I went to the "Elephant Extravaganza" at Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY. There was a demonstration of elephant face painting. As much as I think a Zoo is a great learning place, I did come away a bit sad for the animals in captivity. However, The elephants seemed the most at home in captivity compared to the other animals at this zoo. I was impressed with how gentle and willing to please they were.

A close up of an the bulls eye, it shows intelligence and kindness.

The Elephants seemed to show real affection for each other

Fresian

Pictured here is a gorgous Fresian Gelding. Will be photographing this gelding along with a couple more Fresians later this summer. I went by to "Meet" the horses, and brought along my camera, the farm where they are located is in the middle of improvements, including new barn and indoor, outdoor ring, so horses were in a small enclosure while the bulldozers were at work. Did not have the opportunity to photograph them out in the field, but this summer look forward to that opportunity! They had wonderful dispositions to go along with their good looks!

my travels

Hello,
I will be posting my images of horses and dogs I photograph this season. I have a shoot coming up soon on a farm with Fresians imported from Holland, looking forward to that! Fresian's have been a favorite of mine since I saw that movie "Lady Hawke" back in the 80's. I found out today the owner was inspired by that same movie to purchase her Fresians. I am So looking forward to photographing those majestic looking horses!! Will also be photographing Gypsy's this summer, they are so gorgeous and colorful... Stop back and take a look as the spring/summer progresses.
